Praziquantel (Biltricide) is an anthelmintic effective against flatworms. Praziquantel is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines,a list of the most important medications needed in a basic health system. Praziquantel is not licensed for use in humans in the UK;it is,however,available as a veterinary anthelmintic,and is available for use in humans on a named-patient basis.

Function:
(1) Praziquantel has a particularly dramatic effect on patients with schistosomiasis.
(2) Praziquantel is an anthelmintic or anti-worm medication.Praziquantel prevents newly hatched insect larvae (worms) from growing or multiplying in your body.

Application Area:
1. Praziquantel is used to treat infections caused by Schistosoma worms,which enter the body through skin that has come into contact with contaminated water.
2. Praziquantel is also used to treat infection with liver flukes,caused by a type of worm found in East Asia.This worm enters the body while eating contaminated fish.
